FAQ
HEMP & Cannabinoids
How is hemp different from cannabis?
Botanically speaking, hemp is cannabis; however, legally speaking, hemp is cannabis containing no more than .3% THC.
What is CBD?
CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is one of more than 100 cannabinoids, distinct chemical compounds, found in the cannabis plant. CBD is a nonpsychotropic cannabinoid, meaning it does not produce a euphoric high and is non-intoxicating.
According to a study in the British Journal of Pharmacology, on its own, CBD has therapeutic potential for anxiety, depression, psychosis, epilepsy, nausea, arthritis, and cancer.
What is CBG?
CBG, also known as cannabigerol, is often referred to as the “mother of all cannabinoids” because it is a precursor to most cannabinoids. It is also nonpsychotropic and research has shown promise for CBG in treating glaucoma, inflammation, and prostate carcinoma.
What is isolate?
Isolate is the purest extracted form of a cannabinoid, with all other plant components stripped away, and comes in the form of crystalline powder. For instance, CBD isolate is a CBD extract that is 99% pure CBD.
Isolate is versatile in regards to consumption—you can consume it sublingually, you can use it as an ingredient in drinks, food, tinctures, capsules, topicals, and even add terpenes to it to dab.
How can I use your products without smoking?
For our flower, you can use a dry herb vaporizer. If you like to cook, you can use our flower to infuse oil or butter to make your own edibles, infusing items like salad dressing, pasta, desserts, and more.
For our isolate, you can consume it sublingually, use it as an ingredient in drinks, food, tinctures, capsules, topicals, and even add terpenes to it to dab.
Are hemp and its cannabinoids legal?
The 2018 Farm Bill removed hemp, cannabis containing no more than .3 percent of THC, from the Controlled Substances Act, allowing states to regulate hemp production, commerce, and research.
While removed from the federal CSA, states are allowed to enact their own restrictions regarding hemp. For example, some states prohibit CBD in food and beverage items. On the strict end of the spectrum, Iowa, Idaho, and South Dakota prohibit CBD in all forms.
As Lucid Farms cannot provide legal advice, if you have any questions regarding the legality of hemp in your state, contact your local representative.
Please note, Lucid Farms lab tests all products to ensure they do not contain more than .3% THC.
Will consuming hemp flower make me fail a drug test?
Our products contain .3% or less of THC. While this is a minimal amount of THC, it is possible that a drug test could detect this trace amount, so it is up to your own discretion as to whether you can use our products without failing a drug test. Lucid Farms cannot be held liable for failed drug tests.
